Claudia Moon began her faux finishing career in 1987 working for local designers, builders and architects. In 1989, she had the opportunity to work with the area's most accomplished faux finish, decorative and fine artist as his apprentice. After trying to juggle the apprenticeship and her own company, Claudia made the decision to focus her attention solely on her business, Wall Illusions by Claudia Moon specializing in resort and hospitality projects. She was fortunate enough to be introduced to a world renowned hospitality designer and has continued to work with her and many of her associates for eighteen years. The hospitality designer's expertise has taken her to resorts in Orlando, Key West, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Amelia Island, Hammock Beach, Innisbrook, Greenville, SC, Las Vegas, NV, Branson, MS, Myrtle Beach, SC, St. Thomas and St. Croix, USVI. Other projects have since been completed in Mesa, AZ, Eden, UT, Anna Maria, FL and Philadelphia, PA.
In 1996, Claudia was chosen to assist in the restoration of the historic Polk Theatre (built in 1926). Her scope of work included replicating the original faux finishes and decorative painting with environmentally-friendly products while maintaining the integrity of the historic theatre. This project took almost two years to complete. In addition to such specialized projects, Claudia works for residential designers, architects and builders throughout Florida on a regular basis.
